Singapore is compact, but its sights are spread across Marina Bay, Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar, Kampong Glam and Little India, Orchard Road, Mandai to the north and Sentosa to the south. One district per day keeps a four-day, three-night trip manageable. Day 3 offers two alternatives: Mandai’s Night Safari or Sentosa. Prices and hours were checked against official sites in September 2026.
Before you go: weather, where to stay, transport and entry
Singapore’s Meteorological Service describes a northeast monsoon from December to early March and a southwest monsoon from June to September. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are common in the inter-monsoon periods (late March to May and October to November). Rainfall is higher from November to January; December averages 331.9 mm. Daytime highs generally stay within 31–33°C, but indoor air-conditioning can be strong. Bring a light layer and compact umbrella, and plan outdoor stops for mornings or evenings. For a comparison with Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong, see When to visit Southeast Asia: dry and rainy seasons in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Where to stay
| Area | Advantages | Watch out for | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marina Bay | Close to Day 1 sights and convenient for night views | The area is large; hotels vary greatly in distance from an MRT station | First visits and night views |
| Orchard Road | Shopping malls are concentrated here; easy to escape the rain | You will need transport to Chinatown and Kampong Glam | Shopping and travel with older family members |
| Chinatown | Day 2 temples and hawker centres are within walking distance | Find your hotel entrance on a map first; the old streets have many lanes | Local food |
| Bugis | Walk to Kampong Glam; Little India is also nearby | Sentosa on Day 3 requires another leg of travel | Historic neighbourhoods |

Airport transport, entry and connectivity
Take the MRT from Changi Airport into the city. Some contactless bank cards and mobile wallets work directly on city buses and trains; see the transport guide for accepted cards, administrative fees and whether the Tourist Pass pays off. Submit the SG Arrival Card through an official ICA channel before entry. ICA does not charge for the submission; beware of paid third-party filing sites and check ICA for the current deadline and rules. Set up an eSIM or roaming before departure.

A simplified outline of Singapore marks four days: Day 1 Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay conservatories 9:00–21:00 and Garden Rhapsody at 19:45 and 20:45; Day 2 Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar, Sri Mariamman Temple 6:00–12:00 and 18:00–21:00; Day 3 choose option A, Mandai in the north (solid route), Bird Paradise 9:00–18:00 and Night Safari 18:00–24:00, or option B, Sentosa in the south (dashed route); Day 4 Kampong Glam, Little India, Orchard Road, Sultan Mosque closed to walk-in visitors on Fridays, and finally Jewel Rain Vortex in eastern Changi 10:00–22:00. Grey lines show only a schematic MRT network.
Day 1 Marina Bay: conservatories, Supertree light show and Merlion
Start with the Gardens by the Bay conservatories in the afternoon to escape the heat. Flower Dome has floral displays; Cloud Forest has an indoor waterfall and elevated walkways. Both open daily from 9:00 to 21:00, but their last admission times differ.
| Conservatory | Opening hours | Last admission | Non-resident admission (SGD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flower Dome | Daily 9:00–21:00 | 20:30 | Two-conservatory ticket: adult 46, ages 3–12 32 |
| Cloud Forest | Daily 9:00–21:00 | 20:00 | Included in the same two-conservatory ticket |
The official non-resident price list does not show a single-conservatory ticket. If you want only one, check the booking page for availability. At the September 2026 check, Cloud Forest hosted Jurassic World: The Experience, and ticket names included the exhibition. The two conservatories have different maintenance days, so check each one; the detailed comparison is in the separate guide.

Head to Supertree Grove at dusk. It is free except possibly during ticketed events such as Christmas Wonderland. The grove opens daily from 5:00 until 2:00 the next morning; lights go out at 23:30. Garden Rhapsody, the light-and-music show, runs at 19:45 and 20:45 daily. Borealis is a separate, limited-run light installation in the same area; it is cancelled in rain. Check the event page for its dates and times. Then cross the bridge towards Marina Bay Sands. Check its website for Spectra showtimes and SkyPark Observation Deck prices, before walking around the bay to Merlion Park. Gardens by the Bay says Satay by the Bay will close for redevelopment from 1 October 2026, so do not plan dinner there after that date.
Day 2 Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar: temples in the morning, hawker-centre etiquette
Visit Sri Mariamman Temple in the morning: it opens 6:00–12:00 and 18:00–21:00 (until 21:15 on Fridays), but closes from midday to evening. If you miss the morning window, return at night. Cover your shoulders and wear trousers or a skirt past the knees; remove shoes outside. The temple lends shawls. Check the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple’s site for its hours and dress code.

Have lunch at a hawker centre. People sometimes reserve seats with packets of tissues; if you see belongings on a table, ask before sitting and do not move them. NEA has enforced its Clean Tables rules at all hawker centres since 1 September 2021: return your tray and crockery, and clear tissues, wipes and food scraps. A first offence draws a written warning; repeat offences can be fined. Check each stall’s payment signs and carry some Singapore-dollar cash as a backup. Centres close periodically for cleaning; check NEA notices before you go.

Explore the historic shophouse streets of Tanjong Pagar in the afternoon. If you missed Sri Mariamman Temple earlier, loop back to Chinatown in the evening.
Day 3: choose Mandai’s wildlife parks or Sentosa
Option A: Bird Paradise followed by Night Safari
In the afternoon, visit Bird Paradise first. It opens daily 9:00–18:00, with last admission at 17:00; regular-day non-resident tickets cost SGD 49 for adults and SGD 34 for ages 3–12. At dusk, continue to Night Safari, open daily 18:00–24:00 with last admission at 23:15; regular-day non-resident tickets cost SGD 58 for adults and SGD 41 for ages 3–12. Their definitions of a regular day differ: Bird Paradise counts Monday–Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays; Night Safari counts Sunday–Thursday, excluding Friday, Saturday, public holidays and the eve of a public holiday. To get regular-day prices at both, choose Monday–Thursday and avoid public holidays and their eves. The official site does not show non-resident peak-day prices; check the booking page for those and multi-park bundles.
Option B: Sentosa’s beaches
From HarbourFront MRT station, walk to VivoCity. Take the Sentosa Express from level 3, use the boardwalk from level 1 (parts are under construction, so follow the covered detour), or take the cable car. Check Sentosa’s site for prices. For ways onto the island and its free internal transport, see How to reach Sentosa and travel around the island for free. Get off at Beach Station and walk to Palawan or Siloso Beach; for a quieter option, take the Beach Shuttle to Tanjong Beach. Universal Studios Singapore deserves its own full day. See the pre-trip transport guide for routes covered by the Tourist Pass.
| Comparison | Option A: Mandai | Option B: Sentosa |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Animal lovers and families with children | Sea views and a relaxed daytime visit |
| Time | Bird Paradise 9:00–18:00, then Night Safari 18:00–24:00 | Go to the island by day and return to the city at dusk |
| Advance booking | Night Safari: no slot booking for Destination Pass; required for single tickets and members | No booking for beaches; check the official site for Universal Studios and other attractions |

Day 4 Kampong Glam, Little India and Orchard Road; Jewel before the airport
Start at Sultan Mosque in Kampong Glam. Visitor hours are Saturday–Thursday, 10:00–12:00 and 14:00–16:00; walk-in visits are unavailable on Fridays. The official site does not list a visitor fee. Men need sleeved tops and long trousers. Women need long sleeves, a covered neckline and clothing down to the ankles. Clothing must not be see-through for anyone. Robes are available at the counter on a first-come, first-served basis; remove your shoes before entering.

Continue to Haji Lane and Little India, then take the MRT to Orchard Road in the afternoon for souvenirs and shelter from showers. Before your flight, visit Jewel Changi’s Rain Vortex, open daily 10:00–22:00. Its light-and-music show runs at 20:00 and 21:00 Monday–Thursday, with an additional 22:00 show on Friday–Sunday, public holidays and their eves. Allow enough time for check-in and security before choosing a show; see the pre-trip transport guide for the airport journey. For another four-day, three-night city plan, compare the Hong Kong itinerary.
