After landing at Incheon, your first decision is how to get into the city. The AREX airport railroad has Express and all-stop trains, airport buses run more than a dozen routes, and taxis include standard, deluxe, and international services. The easiest route depends on where your hotel is. This guide puts the fares and travel times found on the airport railroad, Incheon Airport, and bus company websites in 2026/9 into one table. It then explains what to choose if you are staying in Myeongdong, Hongdae, or Gangnam, covers late-night arrivals, and shows how to use Seoul Station City Airport Terminal on the return trip.

AREX airport railroad: Express and all-stop trains
Express train: nonstop, assigned seats, 13,000 won
The Express train departs T2, stops at T1, then runs nonstop to Seoul Station: 43 minutes from T1 or 51 minutes from T2. All seats are assigned, and there are luggage racks. The timetable on the official website in 2026/9 shows the first Seoul-bound departure at 05:16 from T2 and 05:24 from T1. The last departs T2 at 22:40 and T1 at 22:48. Trains run about every 40 minutes during the day, so your wait may be longer than for an all-stop train; check the timetable before entering the platform. From Seoul Station to the airport, the first Express leaves at 06:00 and the last at 23:00. Fares are 13,000 won for adults and 9,500 won for children aged 6 to 12. The senior discount for people aged 65 and over applies only to Korean nationals, so foreign visitors cannot use it. At Seoul Station, the AREX platform is deep underground, and the transfer to subway lines 1 and 4 involves a walk. For Myeongdong, transfer to line 4 at Seoul Station; Hoehyeon and Myeongdong are the next two stops.
All-stop train: ride with T-money for the best value to Hongdae
The all-stop train is a commuter service that accepts T-money. From T2, it stops at T1, Airport Cargo Terminal, Unseo, Yeongjong, Cheongna International City, Geomam, Gyeyang, Gimpo Airport, Magongnaru, Digital Media City, Hongik Univ., and Gongdeok before Seoul Station. The official website gives 59 minutes from Seoul Station to T1 and 66 minutes to T2; the reverse trips take about the same time. Service operates from 05:20 to 00:00; consult the timetable for each station’s first and last trains. Adult fares with a transit card are 4,750 won from T1 to Seoul Station and 4,650 won to Hongik Univ. or Gongdeok; from T2, they are 5,350 won to Seoul Station and 5,250 won to Hongik Univ. or Gongdeok. A single-use transit card costs 100 won more, plus a 500 won deposit refunded at a deposit-return machine after your trip. The cars have no luggage racks, and carrying two large suitcases can be difficult during rush hour.

How to buy tickets: T-money, Express tickets, and single-use tickets
Entrances for both trains are on the basement level of the transportation centers at T1 and T2. The Express has dedicated ticket machines and counters, assigned seats, and accepts cards or cash. For the all-stop train, tap T-money at the gate; if you do not have a card, buy one first at an airport convenience store. The Incheon Airport website also says to confirm fares and schedules with the airport railroad’s official website or customer service at 1599-7788.
- T-money card: Sold at GS25, CU, 7-ELEVEN, and other convenience stores at the airport and in the city, as well as subway station service counters. An empty card costs 3,000 to 5,000 won; loading around 20,000 won should cover two or three days. You can top up at subway station machines. For refunds of balances over 50,000 won, you must visit Tmoney Town at Seoul Station, so avoid loading too much at once.
- Express train ticket: Buy at an airport railroad machine or counter on the basement level of the T1 or T2 transportation center. Adult tickets cost 13,000 won and children’s tickets 9,500 won. The official website lists discounted online tickets from partner platforms; discounts cannot be combined, and redemption follows the ticket instructions.
- All-stop train single-use ticket: Buy from a ticket machine for 100 won more than the transit-card fare, plus a 500 won deposit. Reclaim the deposit at a return machine after arrival.
Buy your AREX Express ticket or T-money in advance and head straight to the station after landing
Airport bus: best with lots of luggage and a hotel beside a stop
Airport limousine buses (공항리무진) can stop close to your hotel, and luggage goes under the bus. At T1, board outside the first-floor arrivals hall; at T2, use the bus terminal on basement level one of the transportation center. Ticketing, reservations and payment for airport departures vary by route and operator. Check the operator's current instructions and airport displays, and get a ticket at the designated counter or machine when required; do not assume you can tap T-money or pay cash on board. For daytime routes such as 6001/6015/6002, check each route's current fare, bay and first/last departure. Road traffic can make the bus much slower than rail, so compare actual departures and traffic if time matters.
| Route | Main stops (airport to city) | Adult/child fare | Operator |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6001 | Sinyongsan, Seoul Station, Myeongdong Station, Dongdaemun (Baiton Hotel) | 17,000/12,000 won | Airport Limousine |
| 6015 | Mapo Station, Gongdeok Station, Chungjeongno Station, Hoehyeon Station (Namdaemun Market), Myeongdong Station, Euljiro, Lotte Hotel | 17,000/12,000 won | Airport Limousine |
| 6002 | Hapjeong Station, Hongik Univ. (Mercure and L7 hotels), Jongno, Dongdaemun, Cheongnyangni | 17,000/12,000 won | Airport Limousine |
| 6703 | Gangnam and the COEX area | Check the operator’s announcement | KAL Limousine |

Late-night buses: four routes after 22:40
22:40 is the last AREX Express departure from T2 toward Seoul Station (22:48 from T1), not the end of all rail service. All-stop trains still depart later for Seoul Station; still later trains may terminate at Digital Media City. After immigration, check the official AREX timetable for your day, T1/T2 and destination. If rail does not fit, compare night buses and taxis. Incheon Airport lists four night-bus routes to Seoul: adult fares are 17,000 to 18,000 won, and child fares 10,000 to 12,000 won. Ticketing varies by operator: at the airport, obtain a ticket from a counter or machine for N6000/N6002; for N6701/N6703, the operator also allows purchase through TmoneyGO. Board N6002 at T1 ground-floor bay 6A or T2 basement bay 30; check the airport displays for other routes and any bay changes. Buses leave T2 first and reach T1 about 20 minutes later. These airport-to-city departure windows were checked in 2026/9; they are not the reverse-direction times:
- N6000 to Gangnam Express Bus Terminal, via Songjeong and Yeomchang: airport-to-city departures run from 23:50 to 04:00 at T2 and 00:10 to 04:20 at T1. The terminal is about 90 minutes from T2 or 70 minutes from T1. Fare: 17,000 won adult, 10,000 won child.
- N6002 to Cheongnyangni, via Hongik Univ., the Four Seasons Hotel near Gwanghwamun, and Heunginjimun: airport-to-city departures run from 23:40 to 04:20 at T2 and 00:00 to 04:40 at T1. Hongik Univ. is about 65 minutes from T2 or 45 minutes from T1. Fare: 17,000 won adult, 10,000 won child. 03:20 is a departure in the opposite direction, from Cheongnyangni toward the airport.
- N6701 to Dongdaemun Design Plaza, via Mapo, Seoul Station and Euljiro Entrance: airport-to-city departures run from 23:30 to 04:20 at T2 and 23:50 to 04:40 at T1. Seoul Station is about 80 minutes from T2 or 60 minutes from T1. Fare: 18,000 won adult, 12,000 won child.
- N6703 to Gwangnaru, via Seorae Village, COEX, Lotte World and Gangbyeon: airport-to-city departures run from 23:20 to 04:30 at T2 and 23:40 to 04:50 at T1. COEX is about 85 minutes from T2 or 65 minutes from T1. Fare: 18,000 won adult, 12,000 won child.
Regular and international taxis
Taxi stands at Incheon Airport are on the ground floor. At T1, standard taxis use 5C, 6C, and 6D; deluxe taxis use 7C; and large taxis use 8C. At T2, Seoul-bound standard taxis use 7C, while deluxe and large taxis use 7D. Standard taxi meters start at 4,800 won; deluxe and large taxis (9 seats) start at 7,000 won. Metered charges and airport expressway tolls are added; nighttime surcharges follow the separate standard versus deluxe/large schedules above. For a fixed fare, use International Taxi, which offers English, Japanese, and Chinese service. From Incheon Airport to Seoul, fixed fares depend on five destination zones A–E: 70,000, 75,000, 85,000, 90,000, or 95,000 won respectively for a standard taxi, and 100,000, 110,000, 120,000, 130,000, or 140,000 won respectively for a deluxe or large taxi. Tolls are extra. Reserve at least 24 hours ahead through the official website, app, or by calling 1644-2255. After landing, check in at the International Taxi counter at T1 4C or T2 3C; you can pay by cash or card.

Which option suits Myeongdong, Hongdae, or Gangnam?
Staying in Myeongdong: bus to the door, or Express train and line 4
Myeongdong has no AREX station. The easiest option is bus 6015 or 6001, which stops around Myeongdong Station, Lotte Hotel, and Hoehyeon Station (Namdaemun Market). For speed, take the Express train to Seoul Station and transfer to line 4 for Hoehyeon and Myeongdong, the next two stops. If you arrive late at night, take N6701, get off at Seoul Station or Euljiro Entrance, then walk or take a short taxi ride.
Staying in Hongdae or Yeonnam-dong: one all-stop train all the way
An AREX all-stop train reaches Hongik Univ. directly: the transit-card fare is 4,650 won from T1 or 5,250 won from T2. There is no luggage rack and peak-hour cars can be crowded. With more luggage, check whether airport bus 6002 stops near your hotel. For late-night N6002, the official route diagrams estimate about 45 minutes from T1 or 65 minutes from T2 to Hongik Univ.; allow for traffic.
Staying in Gangnam: bus by day, N6000 late at night
Gangnam is farthest from the airport and has no direct rail service. By day, bus 6703 to the COEX area is the most direct option. You can also take the Express train to Seoul Station and transfer to the subway, but the transfer and hauling luggage can take about as long as the bus. Late at night, N6000 serves Gangnam Express Bus Terminal and N6703 serves COEX and Lotte World; another option is an international taxi at its fixed fare.
Return-trip tip: Seoul Station City Airport Terminal
If you are taking the Express train back, you can check in, drop your luggage, and clear departure screening at Seoul Station City Airport Terminal, then use a dedicated passage into the restricted area at the airport. Check-in service runs from 05:20 to 19:00, but reception for new check-ins closes at 18:50; departure screening separately runs from 05:30 to 19:00. You must finish at least 3 hours before a T1 flight or 3 hours 20 minutes before a T2 flight, and only passengers with Express train tickets can use the service. The airlines listed on the official website in 2026/9 were Jeju Air, T’way Air, and Eastar Jet at T1, and Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul at T2 (excluding some US routes). Check the actual operating airline and route with the airline before departure. No Taiwan-based airlines were listed, so travelers flying EVA Air, China Airlines, or STARLUX cannot use it.

How to Choose Tokyo Transit Passes: Are Suica, Welcome Suica, the Tokyo Subway Ticket, and the JR Pass Worth It?
On a first Tokyo trip, start with an IC card and pay per ride (Welcome Suica has no deposit and is valid for 28 days).
